Hourly take-home calculator for beauty pros

What do you actually earn per hour once rent, product and card fees are paid? Enter one month of your own figures. You see your take-home per month, per hour you are at work (including gaps, admin and cleaning) and per hour with clients. Nothing is saved or sent anywhere.

One month worked example: replace with your own numbers

Take-home here is before income tax. Hours at work include gaps between clients, admin, cleaning and set-up; hours with clients are the time actually spent on paid services. Leave tips out: they are not part of your prices.

How it works

Card fees = revenue × card %. Total costs = product + card fees + rent + other costs. Take-home = revenue − total costs. Per hour at work = take-home ÷ hours at work. Per hour with clients = take-home ÷ hours with clients. Booked share = hours with clients ÷ hours at work.

Worked example (the values above): card fees are $6,000.00 × 3% = $180.00, so costs total $450.00 + $180.00 + $1,300.00 + $140.00 = $2,070.00 and the month's take-home is $6,000.00 − $2,070.00 = $3,930.00. Over 176 hours at work that is $3,930.00 ÷ 176 = $22.33 an hour; over the 132 hours with clients it is $29.77 an hour. Clients filled 132 ÷ 176 = 75.0% of the hours, and twelve months like this come to $47,160.00.

Filling more of the hours you are already at work raises the hourly figure without raising rent. Price each service for the take-home you want with the salon service price calculator, or see all calculators.
