Enter what you paid for each product and how much one set uses, then your monthly fixed costs, booked hours and the time the service takes. Use the same unit for pack size and amount used on each row (ml with ml, pieces with pieces). Fixed costs are what you pay each month whether you are busy or not (rent, software, insurance). Booked hours are the hours a month you actually spend with paying clients. The price is rounded to the cent before card fees are worked out.

How it works

Each product costs pack price × amount used ÷ pack size. Chair cost per hour = fixed costs per month ÷ booked hours. Price = (products + chair cost for the minutes + take-home for the minutes + card fixed fee) ÷ (1 − card %).

Worked example (the values above): 0.5 ml from a $12.00, 15 ml gel color is $12.00 × 0.5 ÷ 15 = $0.40; base and top coat $0.36, ten tips from a box of 500 $0.40, a disposable file $0.30 and four wipes $0.16, so products come to $1.62 a set. $1,440.00 of fixed costs over 120 booked hours is $12.00 an hour, so 75 minutes of chair time costs $15.00, and $30.00 an hour of take-home for 75 minutes is $37.50. Price: ($1.62 + $15.00 + $37.50 + $0.15) ÷ (1 − 3%) = $54.27 ÷ 0.97 = $55.95. Card fees on $55.95 are $1.83, leaving $55.95 − $1.62 − $15.00 − $1.83 = $37.50 for you.

On a long service the chair time costs more than the products, so speed matters as much as product prices. See also the lash extension pricing calculator and all calculators.
